Introduction

MCB Employees Foundation came into being during the year 1994 under Trust Act with an objective to offer assistance through various welfare schemes to the retired.

Muslim Commercial Bank Ltd. is the founder of MCB Employees Foundation. MCB Employees Foundation is offering various type of services to their different customers in order to gain income with an objective to spend the same on a noble cause such as looking after the interests of the retired personnel of MCB and their families.

Till now MCB Employees Foundation has not offered any scheme, which could give immediate benefit to the existing employees. On the other hand, the future of most of the Ex-Employees up to AVP cadre is being insured under the cover of various schemes.

We have developed a realization that while offering beneficial services to Ex-employees, we could at the same time find out a way to serve regular employees of the bank in such a way that the objective and mandate of the Foundation would not be undermined.

Keeping in view all the above factors, we have prepared Umrah Mubarak Scheme and salient features of the same are as follows.

Salient Features

All those employees who wish to participate in this Scheme, shall become its member and contribute following amounts on monthly basis.
 
CADRE CONTRIBUTION
Executives Rs. 250 per month
Officer Grade I Rs. 200 per month
Officer Grade II Rs. 175 per month
Officer Grade III, Cash Officers & Prob. Officers Rs. 150 per month
Clerical Rs. 75 per month
Non Clerical Rs. 50 per month
 
Names of members for performing UMRAH shall be drawn through a computerized ballot. Balloting shall take place every year in each of the following six months:
   
Rabi-ul-Awaal April
Rabi-u-Sani May
Jamadi-ul-Awaal June
Jamadi-ul-Saani July
Rajab August
Shaban September
 
1st Balloting took place, Inshallah. In the month of July 2005 (Jamadi-us-Sani, 142S Hijri).

A member selected through a computerized ballot will receive Rs.90.000 (Rs. 45,000/- for self plus Rs45,000/- for spouse} for performing Umrah. However selection of travel agent, airline and accommodation shall be his/her own responsibility.

Bachelor Members shall be entitled to lake along one of his/her parents OR brother OR sister only. If a member's spouse cannot travel on account of some valid reasons then one of his/ her parents or sister or brother of that member can be entitled to be substituted in place of his/her spouse.

In case of death of a Member, his/her spouse along with Mahram shall be entitled to travel for Umrah without any ballot provided deceased member had not won the draw in the ballot under this scheme during the year of the death.

A member once won the draw for Umrah shall not be entitled to participate in subsequent draws taking place during that calendar year. Nevertheless, he/she shall pay in advance his share of monthly installments far the remaining period of the year.

If a selected member is not in a position to travel immediately due to any valid reason, then he/she shall remain entitled for his/her amount to perform Umrah for a maximum period of one year commencing from the date of draw.

All employees interested in taking participation in the above scheme at a later stage shall have to pay arrears (or six months provided they are doing so after the expiry of grace period. Within grace period they shall become entitled to be member of the above scheme after paying installments of the lapse months.

Funds contributed by members shall be non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances.

From the pool money, MCBEF shall charge Processing Fee @1.75% per month along with a Balloting Fee of Rs 25.000/- at the time of each ballot.

The Scheme is amendable and renewable at the end of every year at the discretion of the Board of Trustees of MCB Employees Foundation.

The Terms & Conditions contained in Application Form of Umrah Mubarak Scheme are integral part of salient features.

Scheme Overview

In the Year 2008, BALLOTING shall take place in the months of April, May, Jun, July, August and September.

Following tables clearly show expected number of Members who shall perform Umrah ALONG WITH THEIR SPOUSES based on different levels of participation by bank's staff.

Maximum participation is in the benefit of bank's staff as the same shall facilitate higher pilgrimage in forthcoming years.

Expected pilgrimage among members of this scheme shall be equally distributed between two Groups - firstly among Executives & officers and secondly Clerical & Non-Clerical. For instance, if expected pilgrimage in a particular month is 20 members then 10 members shall be drawn from the group of Executives & Officers and 10 members shall be drawn from the group of Clerical & Non - Clerical Staff.

Enrollment Procedure

All Regular employees of the bank posted in Pakistan shall be eligible to participate in this scheme after filling in prescribed application from attached with this circular as Annexure I.

However, the Application Form can also be downloaded from our web site i.e. www.mcbef.com. Photocopies of Application Forms are also acceptable.

Applicants shall submit their Application Forms to their respective Branch Managers / Regional Managers / General Managers / Divisional Heads at Principal Office along with copy of their new NIC and latest salary slip.

Please ensure to sign the Application Form on the front as well as back side.

These Application Forms shall be dispatched by Branch Managers / Regional Managers / General Managers / Divisional Heads, along with a covering letter attached as Annexure II in one lot to MCBEF directly to the following address:

MCBEF will then allot membership number to all Application Forms received and acknowledge their membership numbers through letters addressed to members.

A consolidated list of members along with their membership numbers shall also be sent by MCBEF to respective Regional / Circle Offices / Branches and Divisions at Principal Office for their record purposes.

Monthly Contribution  Subscription

Applicants are required to sign a Debit Authority as per specimen attached i.e. Annexure III and submit the same to their respective Salary Disbursing Authority.

All Applicants are requested to ensure that monthly contribution is being deducted from their salary as per their designation.

Funds Collection Procedure

Monthly contribution will be collected from members of the above said scheme through a direct deduction from their monthly salary by the respective head office at the time of the salary disbursement.
